Elements of stability theory for collisionless plasmas, linear and nonlinear. Nyquist’s
method, Penrose’s criterion. Thermodynamics of collisionless plasma. Gardner’s theorem.
Statistical mechanics and quasilinear theory of collisionless relaxation. Kadomtsev-Pogutse,
Lenard-Balescu and Landau effective collision integrals. The structure of nonlinear theory and
role of phase-space turbulence. Plasma echo. Anti-phase-mixing. Quasiparticle kinetics and
weak turbulence theory. Langmuir turbulence.
