      Here's a hint re how to proceed with Q2(b) on Question Sheet 3

      In part (a), you use variation of parameters to construct expression for greens function (as per Equation (2)). Based on lecture notes, you can derive an alternative representation for the greens function (as an eigenfunction expansion) - we did this in the lectures. To prove their equivalence, take the expression for the greens function from part (a) and derive eigenfunction expansion for it. After some algebra, you should recover expression from lecture notes.
