Course term: Michaelmas
Course lecture information: 8 lectures
Course level: M
Course overview:
The aim of this course is to show you some techniques that are not covered in the Mathematical
Methods course. It will be a fast run through of the basic ideas - hopefully giving you enough
information to find out more for yourselves if you need to use any of these ideas.

Dear All
Here's a hint re how to proceed with Q2(b) on Question Sheet 3
In part (a), you use variation of parameters to construct expression for greens function (as per Equation (2)). Based on lecture notes, you can derive an alternative representation for the greens function (as an eigenfunction expansion) - we did this in the lectures. To prove their equivalence, take the expression for the greens function from part (a) and derive eigenfunction expansion for it. After some algebra, you should recover expression from lecture notes.
Hope this helps.
