This includes
(i) an alternative way of looking at the Fredholm alternative for Fredholm integral equations,
(ii) some further notes on the pitchfork bifurcation example (example 9 in 2.4.2) in case you dont guess the right scaling expansion, and
(iii) 2D vector fields as extremeals (with 2 dependent varaibles and 2 independent variables) in section 3.6.
