(Sheet 2) Starter - sup and max
In this quiz, you'll find some statements about non-empty subsets \( A \) of the real numbers. For each statement, you're asked to say whether it's Always, Sometimes or Never true.
'Always' means that the statement is true for every non-empty subset of the real numbers.
'Sometimes' means that there is at least one non-empty subset of the real numbers for which it's true, and at least one non-empty subset for which it is not true.
'Never' means that it is false for every non-empty subset of the real numbers.
If you think that the answer is Always or Never, then you should try to give a proof (which might in some cases just be a very quick justification). If you think that the answer is Sometimes, then you should try to give an example where it is true and an example where it is not true. Moodle is not clever enough to let you check your proofs/examples, but you can at least get feedback on the Always/Sometimes/Never aspect.
